Over the weekend, a tragic incident occurred in rural Montgomery County, Missouri, where a man from Weldon Spring, identified as William R. Hitzemann, drowned in Golden Eagle Lake. The incident took place on Saturday at around 5 p.m., approximately 11 miles southeast of Montgomery City.
Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol state that Hitzemann was on a boat in the lake and decided to swim to shore. However, he encountered distress and was unable to reach the shore. Unfortunately, Hitzemann, aged 45, lost his life in the drowning accident.
Investigations revealed that Hitzemann was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident. In the meantime, the St. Louis Blues Warrior Hockey organization, known for providing opportunities for disabled veterans to play hockey, shared a tribute to Hitzemann on their Facebook page. Describing him as a loving husband and father, the organization started a GoFundMe campaign to support Hitzemann’s family.
