ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An accusation has been made against a St. Charles County man for stealing $6,100 worth of power tools from a Ladue business.
As per the probable cause statement from the Ladue Police Department, the theft took place between 4 p.m. on March 7 and 5:45 a.m. on March 8 at the McCarthy Brothers building on North Rock Hill Road.
Reportedly, Richard W. Hosmer, whose age was not provided, forcefully entered one of the buildings through a window and took DeWalt power tool batteries and chargers valued at $6,100.
The manager of the company mentioned that Hosmer had been terminated from the business in December 2023. Subsequent to the burglary, the manager discovered the same type of DeWalt batteries and chargers on sale on Facebook Marketplace from a profile associated with Hosmer.
Surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the building captured Hosmer’s vehicle traveling on South McKnight Road towards the McCarthy Brothers location on March 7 around 7 p.m. and passing by the same camera again at 8:07 p.m. on the same day.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has pressed charges against Hosmer for second-degree burglary and stealing an amount of $750 or more. Hosmer has been summoned to appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
