ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The St. Charles Soccer Complex, a beloved spot for families, is being purchased by a private company after serving the community for decades.
Todd Reineke has a deep connection to the facility on Mueller Road, saying, “I used to play at this park when I was growing up. It holds a spot in my heart. My kids played here too. It’s always been a part of the community.”
The St. Charles Youth Soccer Association and the St. Louis Ramblers rugby club use the complex regularly, hosting games, clinics, practices, and matches.
The St. Charles City Council approved the sale of the park to Invesco Group LLC for $3 million. The new owners plan to invest $20 million in upgrades, including eight artificial turf fields, a goalie practice area, and an indoor complex, benefiting the entire area.
Despite concerns about limited public input, the city has safeguards in place. They have the option to repurchase the property if certain conditions are not met, ensuring its use for sports and recreation for at least a decade.
Work on the turf fields is set to begin in January, with completion expected by fall 2025. The development of the indoor complex will follow once the outdoor fields are ready.
