MISSOURI – The initial results of the election indicate that St. Charles County has set a new record for votes cast in the November 2024 general election, while voter turnout has decreased in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County.
As stated in a news release from St. Charles County on Wednesday, 228,700 registered voters participated in the general election in the county, from the absentee voting period to Election Day, based on unofficial results.
This surpasses the previous record set in the November 2020 general election when 223,533 registered voters cast their ballots.

Officials in St. Charles County highlighted that voter registrations had reached record levels leading up to the general election, now exceeding 300,000. The reported voter turnout for this November is around 76%, slightly lower than in 2020, due to the increased voter registrations.
Based on unofficial election results from the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County, it appears that voter turnout (percentage of registered voters who cast ballots) and the total number of registered voters who voted have decreased compared to the 2020 general election.
In November 2020, 540,597 registered voters participated in St. Louis County with a voter turnout of 79.28%.
For this November, preliminary results show that 505,298 registered voters cast their ballots in St. Louis County with a voter turnout of 76.67%.
In November 2020, 134,886 registered voters participated in the City of St. Louis with a voter turnout of 66.05%.
For this November, preliminary results indicate that 116,986 registered voters cast their ballots in the City of St. Louis with a voter turnout of 59.43%.
