The O’Fallon, Missouri community is grieving the loss of a 9-year-old girl who was tragically struck and killed by a school bus. In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, the community has united to show their support for the victim’s family.
A memorial has been set up near Lupine and Snowbird courts, where the accident occurred. Community members have been bringing stuffed animals and flowers to pay tribute to the young girl.
Ryan Coffman, a local business owner and neighbor, has organized a fundraiser with the aim of raising $25,000 for the grieving family. “I just felt drawn to the situation. I have three kids as well and just felt the desire, the need to help as much as I could,” he said.
Coffman is urging the O’Fallon community to come together and support the family in their time of need. “To raise funds in order for them to be able to grieve in peace without thinking of any kind of financial hardships or burdens that they still have to carry on with,” he explained.
He has been in contact with the victim’s family, who were deeply touched by the outpouring of support from the community. “They were really touched and felt very appreciative that the community had come together in order to help support the situation that unfortunately came about,” Coffman shared.
As the investigation continues, the bus driver involved in the accident is fully cooperating with authorities.
