ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Battlehawks have a crucial opportunity in their regular-season finale this Saturday. A win will secure home-field advantage as they head into the playoffs next weekend, while a loss will not.
With a current record of 6-3, the Battlehawks will face off against the San Antonio Brahmas (7-2) at the Dome at America’s Center on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CT.
Both teams have secured playoff spots in the XFL Conference of the United Football League, setting the stage for a potential rematch in the XFL Conference Championship. The winner of Saturday’s game will earn the right to host the first-round playoff game.
If the Battlehawks win, both St. Louis and San Antonio will finish the regular season with a 7-3 record. In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker is the head-to-head record. Having won the first matchup against San Antonio in Week 3, St. Louis would secure home-field advantage with a 2-0 head-to-head record.
However, if the Brahmas emerge victorious, San Antonio will finish at 8-2 and St. Louis at 6-4. In this scenario, San Antonio would host the first-round playoff game due to their superior overall record.
Regardless of the location, St. Louis and San Antonio will compete for a spot in the UFL Championship Game on June 16. The winner will then face the USFL Conference Champion, either the Birmingham Stallions or Michigan Panthers.
If the Battlehawks win on Saturday, there is a chance they could be playing football in St. Louis for the next three weeks, leading up to the UFL Championship on June 16. FOX 2 will broadcast Saturday’s game following the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series coverage starting at noon.
