ST. CHARLES, Mo. – St. Charles High School and Lindenwood University are featured in an upcoming teen comedy about a metalhead.
“Greg’s Going to Rehab” is a coming-of-age comedy and drama that includes actors and actresses from all over the country, such as Jim Beaver from “Deadwood” and “Supernatural,” and Jack Falahee from “How to Get Away with Murder” and “Mercy Street.”
The film follows the story of Greg Walker, a 16-year-old metalhead who is determined to attend an Ozzy and Metallica concert.
However, he faces challenges such as failing grades, excessive partying, and disappointed parents. To fulfill his plan of seeing the show, he decides to attend a short rehab session to appease his parents.
“Greg’s Going to Rehab” is written and directed by Chris Lawing, who drew inspiration from his own experiences as a rebellious youth. The film is set to be released on Apple and Amazon tomorrow.
The movie has collaborated with Lindenwood University, providing additional sets on campus to bring this low-budget independent feature to life. St. Charles High School also allowed the film to utilize their cafeteria as a set.
Lawing emphasized the importance of teamwork in making low-budget films, comparing it to digging a foundation with a shovel. Many individuals have come together to make this project happen.
“Greg’s Going to Rehab” is a Mercury Films production and is set to be released after editing in the fall, entering the film festival circuit.
