Residents of St. Charles, Missouri may soon experience fewer electrical outages, even in the midst of storms.
A new smart switch is being installed by Ameren on Thursday morning, aiming to enhance reliability for around 2,000 customers.
This device is capable of quickly detecting and isolating damage, as well as redirecting power flow.
An Ameren representative mentioned that the smart switch can sometimes reduce power restoration time in a household from hours to mere seconds.
Since 2018, Ameren has implemented over 1,500 smart switches across Missouri.
