Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County (BGCSTC) is excited to announce that its ACT Prep Program was honored with the Program Impact Award at the Missouri Area Council Annual Conference on September 17. This award recognizes the program’s commitment to helping high school members enhance their ACT scores and develop crucial college and career readiness skills.
Now in its fourth year, the ACT Prep Program was started by dedicated volunteer Ryan Endres, an SEIT Engineer at Boeing, to offer accessible and free ACT preparation. “Many private ACT prep programs are too costly for our members,” explained Endres. “Our objective was to eliminate this obstacle and make higher education more achievable.”
The program is a no-cost, 9-week program conducted at the St. Charles Unit, where members gather twice a week from early June to mid-August. In addition to ACT Prep, sessions cover resume writing, high school course selection advice, and college application tips. Members complete three full-length practice tests, resulting in an average composite score improvement of up to 4 points.
“The success of our ACT Prep Program demonstrates our dedication to removing obstacles for youth in our community,” stated BGCSTC CEO Karen Englert. “We are thankful to our volunteers, particularly Ryan Endres, and community partners for making this program a reality.”
The program’s impact is evident, with participants achieving significant improvements in their ACT scores, boosting their college and scholarship prospects. The next session of the program will kick off in June 2025, with plans to further expand its reach and positive impact in the community.
