ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Residents in Missouri and Illinois have been dealing with the loud sounds of cicadas and the damage they’ve caused to trees over the past month. If you’re eager for them to leave, you won’t have to wait much longer.
Brood 19 has been visible in the St. Louis area since May, but the adult cicadas are nearing the end of their life cycle, and we won’t see their offspring for another 13 years.
So, the seasonal cicadas’ buzzing will soon quiet down, but don’t worry; there are still cicadas that emerge yearly.
