The martial arts students of Sah Do Mu Sul have been invited to represent O’Fallon in the 2025 United Mirae Kuk Sool world tournament in Scotland.
These martial artists are working hard every day to get ready to represent our community on the world stage. To help them make it to this prestigious competition, the SDMS Booster Club will host the first-annual “Chips & Sips” fundraiser on Saturday, November 9.
The event will be held at VFW Post 5077, 8500 Veterans Memorial Parkway, O’Fallon. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Early-bird tickets cost $50 through Nov. 2, when the price increases to $60. Tickets can be purchased at www.sdmsbooster.com/events-and-fundraisers.
“We invite everyone to join us for a memorable evening,” said Kelly Fleites, owner of the Sah Do Mu Sul martial arts school. “Every dollar raised helps our martial artists grow — physically, mentally, and personally — through discipline and integrity. We’re committed to creating a supportive, inclusive environment that builds strong community relationships and instills lifelong values, both in and out of the dojang.”
In this thrilling night of food, fun, and philanthropy, guests can look forward to a choice between two exciting options of entertainment. Spirit enthusiasts who select the tasting will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the mead-making process while savoring a variety of flavors from Burnt Barrel Meadery & Distillery. This hidden gem, based in Lake St. Louis, is a small batch meadery offering unique honey wine, vodka, bourbon, and whiskey in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. Also pouring that night will be TreeHive Meadery. Located just outside of Chicago, TreeHive is known for its mead, cider, and globally sourced honey.
For those interested in trying their luck at the poker table, this free, friendly Texas Hold’em Tournament is open to first-time players as well as the seasoned pros. Tournament seats are limited to the first 80 registrants.
Dinner will be prepared by the Atonement Men’s Club, known for their mouth-watering BBQs and community support. The Atonement Men’s Club is a nonprofit that raises funds for causes like Meals on Wheels and Feed My Starving Children. At Chips & Sips, dinner includes a glass of hand-crafted honey-wine from Burnt Barrel Meadery, specially paired with the evening’s meal.
