ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The atmosphere at Frontier Park was vibrant on Thursday afternoon with live music, local food, and family-friendly activities like face painting and carnival rides. Organizers and attendees were hopeful that the fireworks show at the St. Charles Riverfest would not be disrupted by Mother Nature.
“We don’t have any backup plans, but we’re considering having a cookout at my brother’s house in St. Louis,” said out-of-towner Patrick Byrne.
Denita Hord, from Kansas City, also pinned her hopes on seeing the fireworks that evening.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have any other plans. I came down here to spend the Fourth of July with my brother and his family from Kansas City,” she said.
Despite the looming threat of rain, some attendees were looking forward to enjoying delicious food and live performances.
“There’s a variety of food options. I enjoy trying all the different types of food available here,” said Tyrone Bell.
“I come here to see the bands perform, as they are really good,” added Vito Piscotta.
Despite the weather concerns, the celebratory spirit in St. Charles remained strong, with the community ready to adapt and make the most of Independence Day, whether rain or shine.
“I plan to set off fireworks with my family and siblings,” Bell shared.
“We might grab some ice cream and take a walk in the rain. We have an umbrella, so we’ll probably stroll around downtown, which is really beautiful,” said Lilly Mrac.
