The suburban Chicago property, famous from ‘Home Alone,’ underwent renovations and expansion in 2018.
WINNETKA, Ill. — The iconic house featured in Kevin McCallister’s adventures is up for sale.
The new owner will have the luxury of watching “Home Alone” in the in-house movie theater, one of many updates made after the property in suburban Chicago was revamped and expanded in 2018.
The Winnetka house, famously seen in the 1990 film, is currently on the market, just days after being listed for $5.25 million, according to agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor from Coldwell Banker Realty.
“We’re delighted that this home has captured the attention and hearts of so many people, given its significant role in cinematic history and the enduring holiday memories it brings to mind,” McKenna and Moor told the Chicago Sun-Times.
The brick Georgian-style house boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and over 9,000 square feet (836 square meters) of living space on the Illinois property. It also includes a fully equipped gym and indoor sports court with a basketball hoop.
“Home Alone” narrates the comedic tale of 8-year-old Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, who gets left behind as his family vacations in Europe during Christmas. Kevin daringly defends the house against two hapless burglars portrayed by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, including ingenious traps like paint cans swinging from ropes. Culkin, Pesci, and Stern all reprised their roles in the 1992 sequel “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.”
The house was last sold in 2012 for $1.58 million.
