ST. PETERS, Mo. – Firefighters were surprised when police showed up at a Central County Fire and Rescue firehouse earlier this month.
Police investigators arrived at a fire station in St. Peters, searching for an alleged criminal suspect who had been caught in a law enforcement sting operation.
The suspect turned out to be a 25-year veteran of the fire department, who was arrested while on duty. Central Fire and Rescue promptly removed his picture and name from their website’s Meet the Team page.
Court records identify the suspect as Allan Gacki, who was apprehended on May 16 as part of a St. Charles police investigation into human trafficking. Gacki faces a misdemeanor charge for allegedly engaging in sexual activity at his place of employment, as well as a felony charge for attempting to deliver controlled substances to an undercover detective.
It is important to note that the undercover detective was not posing as a minor in this situation, and the charges involve an individual over the age of 18.
Fire Chief John Schneider of Central County Fire and Rescue stated, “I was notified by local law enforcement about an incident involving one of our employees. His actions do not align with the expected culture and behavior of our employees. This individual is no longer part of our department. We believe that this incident should not tarnish the reputation of our dedicated firefighter paramedics.”
Gacki has been released from custody pending the charges and has been summoned to appear in court on July 26.
