You can find out sooner this year how much you’re going to owe for your personal property tax in St. Charles County.
Starting last week, you’ll be able to see the amount of your personal property tax before paper bills are mailed out in November. Collector of Revenue Michelle McBride says those who signed up to get eAlerts will receive a notification that their statement is available to view online by text or email (or both), depending on what they registered to receive.
Anyone wishing to sign up for notifications can do so by registering at StCharlesMoCollector.com.
“If you’re a taxpayer and you want to get your bill out of the way, just go online and pay. The convenience fee for an e-check is a flat $1.50, not that much more than the price of a stamp, and you won’t have the stress of worrying about whether your payment made it to the Collector’s Office,” McBride says.
Taxpayers will get an immediate confirmation of their payment transaction. A paid receipt will be sent by mail.
Physical bills for unpaid tax will still go out in November, many showing both personal property tax and real estate tax on one statement.
While personal property tax will be available online early, real estate property tax bills won’t be posted until mid-November. That’s because information needed to compile real estate tax bills can come in as late as Oct. 15.
“The reason we’re doing this is to give the Collector’s Office more time to prepare documents that will be included in the November mailers for those who qualified for the Senior Property Tax Freeze,” McBride says. “They’ll get a statement showing the amount of their credit this year, and information on how to renew for the 2025 tax year.”
St. Charles County has more than 182,000 personal property tax bills this year. About 130,000 real estate tax bills will also be created. Payments for 2024 tax bills are delinquent on Jan. 1, 2025, and will have statutory late payment interest and penalty applied on that date.
