Since 1996 the St Charles County Youth Orchestra (SCCYO) has been offering young people the opportunity to play orchestral music under the direction of some of the finest conductors in our area. Over 1,000 students have played with SCCYO, and many have gone to study and perform at the college level. Some are now professional musicians.
The Symphony Orchestra, led by Mr. Shane Williams, has been selected to perform at the 2025 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. This performance will take place in January 2025 at the Tan-Tar-a Osage Beach Resort. This performance will mark the fourth time SCCYO has been selected to perform at this prestigious event.
The orchestra is open to all levels of string, woodwind, brass, and percussion. To accommodate students of varying experience, the orchestra is divided into three levels. Younger players usually start in the Primo Strings. Intermediate students typically perform with the Cadenza Orchestra. Advanced students with the Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra is open to young people through the age of 19.
