ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Area agencies are urging everyone to stay home on Sunday as a winter storm is expected to hit the St. Louis area on Saturday night. The storm is forecasted to bring snow and ice, along with several days of dangerously cold temperatures.
“We know temperatures are going to stay below freezing for at least a week, and that means that this snow and ice is not going to melt in a day or two,” said St. Louis County Executive Sam Page. “It will wear out its welcome, and it’s going to be tough.”
“We have some concerns about power outages,” said Michele Ryan, St. Louis County Emergency Management director. “Power outages in bitter cold temperatures are even worse.” She advised everyone to ensure they have emergency supplies before Sunday.
St. Louis County officials are also reminding individuals on the road to give plow operators enough space to carry out their work efficiently.
