Authorities in St. Charles County, Missouri, revealed that suspected gang members from Houston, Texas, traveled to O’Fallon, Missouri, to tamper with an ATM and later steal from it when the repairman arrived.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on August 10 at the Bank of America branch on Fallon Loop Road in O’Fallon. The victim, a repairman, was assaulted by three men who arrived in a Toyota Camry while one woman remained in the car.
One of the suspects, Pharrell Dembry, threw the repairman to the ground while another threatened him with a gun. The victim’s phones were taken and the money cassette from the ATM was emptied with the help of the suspects, resulting in $94,370 in U.S. currency being stolen.
The group had traveled to the St. Louis area to commit ATM robberies known as “jugging,” where they would manipulate the ATM to trigger a repairman visit and then steal from the machine. Dembry was also seen tampering with another ATM in St. Louis on the same day as the O’Fallon robbery.
Dembry was charged with first-degree robbery by the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
