ST. LOUIS – The Fortune 500 is an annual list published by Fortune Magazine that ranks the 500 largest corporations in the United States based on their total revenue from the latest fiscal year.
Last week, Fortune released its 70th annual Fortune 500 list, recognizing seven companies from the St. Louis area.
Some of the regional companies recognized in St. Louis include:
- Centene (25)
- Emerson Electric (206)
- Reinsurance Group of America (257)
- Jones Financial – Edward Jones (333)
- Graybar Electric (378)
- Olin (410)
- Ameren (480)
All seven companies mentioned in the report were also on last year’s list, with six maintaining the same ranking. Emerson Electric saw a slight increase in ranking from 207 to 206. Additionally, all seven companies showed a positive change in profits percentage from the previous year.
Overall, the revenue threshold for the 2024 Fortune 500 list was $7.1 billion, which is a 2% decrease from the previous year. The Fortune 500 companies collectively represent two-thirds of the U.S. gross domestic product.
Walmart continues to hold the top spot on the Fortune 500 list for the 12th consecutive year, with $6.1 trillion in cumulative revenue. Amazon, Exxon Mobil, Apple, and United Health Group follow closely behind in the Top 5 spots.
