Twenty-eight Wentzville School District high school juniors have been selected to attend the American Legion Girls and Boys State of Missouri events.The 82nd session of Missouri Girls State and 84th session of Missouri Boys State were held on the campus of Lindenwood University June 22-29 in St. Charles.
Girls State
Twelve WSD high school juniors were selected to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State of Missouri.
Those selected to attend were: from Holt High School, MacKenzie Ragan and Taylor Von Wolfseck; from Liberty High School, Reese Bedford, Cadance Benson, Anna Fleetwood, Micaela Garcia and Margot Revelle; from North Point High School, Ashlyn Mahoney and Raeven Wilcox; and from Timberland High School, Skai Peterkin, Anahi Ramos, and Haley Weinhardt.
Missouri Girls State delegates are selected based on their leadership abilities, interest in government, service to others, and academics.
The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program was founded in 1940 at William Woods College in Fulton, Mo. The program is designed to change lives by bringing together dynamic young women for an intense week of learning focused on developing leadership skills, responsible citizenship, patriotism, and a sense of community.
Boys State
Sixteen students from the WSD were selected to attend the American Legion Boys State of Missouri.
Those selected to attend were: from Holt High School, Jeremy Haarmann, and Landon Rosenhoffer; from Liberty High School, Pranad Balla, Shaun Dobratz, Logan Hinds, Tyler Sethaler, Jacob Spoor, and Aarush Survi; from North Point High School, Domenic Colombatto, Isaiah Estep, Nicholas Keeton, and Jack Phillips; and from Timberland High School, Cole Bastean, Noah King, Adewale Osibamiro, and Aidan Storms.
The American Legion Boys State of Missouri is an eight-day, hands-on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government, and draws together the best and brightest high school students to help lead them down the path to individual success and leadership. Since its inception in 1938, Missouri Boys State has provided over 40,000 high school students with the privilege of attending this practical laboratory in citizenship and leadership training.
