A woman in St. Charles County, Missouri has been charged by the O’Fallon Missouri Police Department for allegedly stealing almost $50,000 from her employer and an additional $9,000 from a victim’s credit card.
Between 2019 and 2022, Lynn Whitehead of Wentzville, Missouri, who worked as a payroll specialist, is accused of manipulating payroll documents to give herself more money than she had earned. According to court records, she also misused the owner’s credit card for personal expenses.
Whitehead allegedly changed documents for vacation and bereavement time, claiming payment for hours she was actually working. She also altered her hourly pay rate without authorization multiple times.
Whitehead allegedly took advantage of overtime and salary coefficient policies by modifying her pay records to receive money from both when she worked over 80 hours in a pay period.
Using the victim’s credit card, Whitehead purchased food and alcohol for personal use, masking the transactions with false information. She is accused of buying unauthorized items with funds meant for the victim.
Whitehead admitted to taking 40 hours of vacation time but denied wrongdoing in other instances during an interview. She claimed the items bought with the victim’s credit card were intended for the victim.
Whitehead is facing charges for stealing $49,751.62 in payroll and $9,196.85 through the victim’s credit card. She is charged with two counts of stealing $750 or more and one count of fraudulent use of a credit device. A hearing is set for Oct. 25.
