Hailey Zenk, at 17 years old, was driving a car that crashed along South Chantilly Road in February 2023.
ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A Lincoln County woman, Hailey Zenk, who pleaded no contest in a crash that resulted in the deaths of three high school students in February 2023, will serve four months in jail as part of a suspended execution of sentence.
On Monday, Hailey Zenk, now 19, received a 10-year sentence in St. Charles County Circuit Court for driving while intoxicated resulting in two or more deaths, seven years for DWI leading to serious injury, and seven years each for three counts of involuntary manslaughter.
Zenk entered an Alford plea in April, indicating that while she did not admit guilt, there was enough evidence to convict her.
Judge Michael Fagras decided to have all five sentences run concurrently but chose to impose a suspended execution of sentence. Zenk will spend 120 days in St. Charles County jail followed by five years of probation, avoiding prison time if she meets the conditions of her sentence.
The crash occurred when Zenk was speeding at 81 mph in a 35 mph zone along South Chantilly Road, causing the car to go airborne, leave the roadway, strike a tree, and flip. Three teenagers, students in the Lincoln County R-III School District, were killed, while Zenk, then 17, and a fourth passenger were injured.
Prosecutors revealed that a blood sample taken after the crash showed a combination of drugs and alcohol in Zenk’s system.
